Video duration: 309 seconds Kurt didn't have such a great skate at the Olympics, but just two weeks later he made up for it in a big way! Although, the Halifax Can Can is probably his definitive program, there's not much to criticize here in this seminal work. The freedom and polish of his skating is evident, and he was always a skater who seemed to greatly enjoy his time on the ice. Video duration: 288 seconds This is early Torvill and Dean, one of the few times you see them really skating hard for a performance. I don't think they ever put a foot wrong or had a slip (much different from our Americans Blumberg and Seibert who were of similar quality). Ice dancing was changing, and free dance became much more emphasized....new ideas and new music appeared. This was the start of their WORLD DOMINATION. Video duration: 409 seconds O.K., I lied -- it's Scott Hamilton with a nice history of skating jumps. There is a picture of Axel Paulsen though, and that's all I've been able to find so far! We also need Aloise Lutz, and Werner Rittsberger (loop jump). I am sure studying this slow motion would improve your technique! I did often wonder if they ever actually went to Chile or Argentina, and what impact this skating opprobrium had there.....but it certainly brought awareness to an issue. The tension of the opening segment is met with mathmatical perfection....and the slow section that followed was mesmerizing. I imagine SKATING HEAVEN looks a little bit like this...........John was choreographing Original Dances 20 years before they were invented!!!!!!! Video duration: 359 seconds This is a legendary program to Scherazade! I consider the music "kiss of death" music but they are one of the few who did it really well. Watch for the throw double axel. I believe it is the first ever done in competition, at least at US Nationals. The death spiral combination - forward spiral ending is delightful too!
